The problem. The back of the chair becomes the coat rack. Wall hooks mean drilling, and many leases limit holes in entryways.
What this does. A hook rail that hangs over a standard interior door. It needs enough clearance with the frame and a door thick enough for the bracket. It can scratch paint if it rattles — use bumpers. Check your lease; over-door hardware is usually allowed but not universally.
Questions
- Will this fit my door?
- Most US interior doors work. Extra-thick doors, some metal doors, and doors that already sit tight to the frame may not. Measure thickness and top gap.
- Will it scratch the door?
- It can, especially if it rattles. Use the bumpers and do not slam the door. We do not guarantee unmarked paint.
- How much weight can it hold?
- We will publish per-hook and total ratings. A wet winter coat on every hook can exceed cheap racks — we will not list those.
